If you’re passionate about food and want to build a career in the culinary industry, the Commis Chef Apprenticeship is the perfect starting point.
Delivered by Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) at the state-of-the-art BIA Innovator Campus, this two-year programme combines on-the-job experience with classroom learning.
Apprentices work with an approved hospitality employer and attend regular training in our modern, industry-standard kitchen facilities.

Become a Baker
Artisan Bread Making with GRETB
Location: BIA Innovator Campus, Athenry, Co. Galway
Programme Length: One day a week, for 5 weeks
Award: FDQ Level 2 Certificate
If you enjoy baking and want to build practical skills, this Artisan Bread Making course is a great introduction to professional bread production.
This 5 weeks, part-time course is delivered by GRETB in a purpose-built training bakery at the BIA Innovator Campus.
Guided by experienced bakers, you’ll gain an understanding of both the science and craft of breadmaking.

If you have an interest in coffee and want to develop practical, industry-relevant skills, the Barista Skills course is an excellent introduction to working in the hospitality sector.
This part-time course is delivered by GRETB at the BIA Innovator Campus, providing hands-on training in a professional learning environment.
You’ll be guided by experienced trainers who will help you build the skills and knowledge needed to work as a barista.
